EWS-WWF

The WWF UAE Project Office was established in February 2001. Although it was the first WWF office to be set up in the Middle East, WWF’s association with the region can be traced back to the early 1960s where WWF helped establish the 'Arabian Oryx World Herd,' which succeeded in breeding the Oryx in captivity and returning them to reserves in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Thanks to 'Operation Oryx' the Arabian Oryx was saved from extinction. Take action as an individual and become a volunteer!

Feline Friends

Feline Friends is a non profit making organization that helps cats in the UAE. Volunteers rescue and re-home stray cats and kittens; promote the control of street cats by sterilization and re-release and provide care and relief to sick and injured cats and kittens. Foresight

Sight loss devastates lives. Foresight’s aim is to help find a cure for retinal diseases that make people go blind, such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) by supporting locally based and international research. They also aim to improve the lives of people who are visually impaired and blind in the UAE through many community initiatives. This includes a regular support group for people who are losing their sight. Please see our website for news about our enjoyable fund-raising events.

Make-a-Wish

Each year in the UAE, children are unfortunately diagnosed with a life-threatening medical conditions. Thanks to advances in diagnostic and therapeutic technology, many are now being cured while others have their lives prolonged for many years and some, unfortunately, lose their battle. The Make-A-Wish Foundation steps in to assist these children and their families by providing an avenue for hope and strength. By focusing on the positive, the Make-A-Wish Foundation brings magic and joy to these children each year, by granting their most cherished wish. This is an experience that the children, their parents and siblings look forward to, often holding on to it to get through the tougher times. From the magic and power of having their most cherished wish granted, these children are given hope, strength and much joy.

Médecins Sans Frontières

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, humanitarian organisation whose objective is to provide assistance to populations in distress. MSF delivers emergency aid to the victims of armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters and to others who lack health care due to social or geographical isolation. MSF provides primary health care, performs surgery, rehabilitates hospitals and clinics, runs nutrition and sanitation programmes, trains local medical personnel, and provides mental health care. Through longer-term programs its teams treat diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, sleeping sickness and HIV/AIDS. Annually, some 4,700 volunteer doctors, nurses and support staff go to the field where they work alongside 26,000 locally recruited staff. In the UAE, an MSF regional office was created under the patronage of H.E.Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan in 1991 to raise awareness and funds for its field activities.

Takatof

Takatof is a voluntary social program, designed by the Emirates Foundation to create a culture of volunteering throughout the UAE. Takatof mobilizes people and resources across the nation to help those in need. Takatof particularly offers young people an opportunity to volunteer for humanitarian, social and community programs that serve those least able to help themselves.

UAE Red Crescent

The work of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is grouped into four main core areas: promoting humanitarian principles and values; disaster response; disaster preparedness; and health and care in the community. This year, they are trying to help more than 30 million of the world's most needy people. One of the best ways you can make a difference to the lives of these people is to make a financial donation to your national UAE Red Crescent Society.

Volunteer in Abu Dhabi

Volunteering your time to assist any non-profit aid organisation is the most rewarding way to give back to society. Relief and Aid Organisations rely on volunteers to keep overheads at a minimum, thus ensuring that every penny possible goes to those who need it. Volunteer in Abu Dhabi is aimed at bringing together any organisation, good cause or individual effort in the UAE, with people willing to help out. Even if only for one hour and even if it is infrequent... it makes an enormous difference.
